Omdia: The total revenue of the global semiconductor market will reach 595.7 billion US dollars in 2022

In 2022, the semiconductor market will reach an all-time high with total revenue of $595.7 billion, slightly higher than 2021's record revenue of $592.8 billion. But according to the latest research survey by Omdia, the semiconductor market has declined for four consecutive quarters, and the semiconductor market is by no means having a record year in its current state. The 9% contraction in the fourth quarter of 2022 from the previous quarter is the largest decline in the current economic downturn. Revenue of $132.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022 is only 82% of the record quarterly revenue of $161.1 billion in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The top two semiconductor companies by revenue remain in the top two spots, but their combined revenues are nearly $24 billion lower than in 2021. In the top five, memory companies - SK Hynix and Micron - both slipped one place, while Qualcomm and Broadcom rose one place each. AMD rose the most in the rankings, up three spots compared to 2021, largely due to its acquisition of Xilinx, which added nearly $5 billion in revenue.
