Broadcom launches second-generation Wi-Fi 7 solution with transmission speeds up to 8.64 Gbps

Lansheng Technology News on June 20, Broadcom today announced the launch of the second generation of Wi-Fi 7 wireless connectivity solutions, covering Wi-Fi routers, enterprise and client devices.

Broadcom reportedly introduced the BCM67263 for residential APs, the BCM43740 for enterprise APs, and the BCM4398 for client devices last year.

This year, Broadcom's new chips are BCM6765, BCM47722 and BCM4390. The BCM6765 and BCM47722 are aimed at residential and commercial Wi-Fi platforms respectively, supporting 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz frequency bands, supporting Dual 2x2, and a transmission rate of up to 8.64 Gbps. The enterprise Wi-Fi platform BCM47722 also integrates Bluetooth and Zigbee/802.15.4 support for IoT needs. Both platforms are equipped with quad-core ARMv8 CPU and 10G PHY.

The client solution is the BCM4390, which replaces the BCM4398 launched last year, supporting 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz or 6 GHz frequency bands, but the channel width support is reduced from 320 MHz to 160 MHz. The PHY rate is 3.2 Gbps. Additionally, the BCM4390 integrates Bluetooth Denver, Thread and Zigbee support. The new BCM4390 also supports Broadcom's proprietary SpeedBooster technology.
