Toshiba Introduces Miniaturized Ultra-Thin Package Common-Drain MOSFET with Lower On-Resistance for Fast-Charging Devices

 


【Lansheng Technology Information】May 18, 2023 - Toshiba announced today that it has launched a 12V common-drain N-channel MOSFET "SSM14N956L" with a rated current of 20A, which can be used in lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries for mobile devices battery protection circuit in the pack. This product supports volume shipments starting today.


Lithium-ion battery packs rely on highly stable protection circuits to reduce heat generation during charging and discharging for increased safety. These circuits must feature low power dissipation and high-density packaging while requiring small, thin MOSFETs with low on-resistance.


The SSM14N956L uses Toshiba's proprietary micromachining process, which is also used in the released SSM10N954L. Low power consumption is achieved with industry-leading[1] low on-resistance characteristics, and low standby power consumption is ensured by industry-leading[1] low gate-source leakage current characteristics. These features help extend battery life. In addition, the new product also uses a new type of small and thin package TCSPED-302701 (2.74mm × 3.0mm, thickness = 0.085mm typical value).


Toshiba will continue to develop MOSFET products for use in protection circuits in lithium-ion battery pack-powered equipment.
