Toshiba Launches "TXZ+ Family Advanced Series" ARM Cortex-M3 Microcontroller

【Lansheng Technology Information】Shanghai, China, June 27, 2023——Toshiba announced today that it has newly launched the "M3H Group" in its "M3H Group" equipped with a 32-bit microcontroller product group "TXZ+TM Family Advanced Series". (2)", this series of products is equipped with Cortex®-M3 manufactured by 40nm process.

In recent years, with the penetration of digital technology, especially in the field of Internet of Things (IoT), and the increasingly advanced functions of various devices, users' demand for larger program capacity and support for FOTA (firmware upgrade over the air) has continued to increase. The new product M3H group (2) expands the code flash memory capacity of Toshiba's existing product M3H group (1) from 512KB (partially 256KB or 384KB) to 1MB[1], and the RAM capacity from 66KB[2] to 130KB[2] . Other features include a built-in ARM® Cortex®-M3 core with a running frequency of up to 120MHz, internal integrated code flash memory and 32KB data flash memory, and an endurance of 100,000 program/erase cycles. Additionally, these microcontrollers offer a variety of interface and motor control options such as UART, I2C interface, advanced encoder input circuitry, and advanced programmable motor control circuitry. Toshiba's M3H Group line of microcontrollers helps improve IoT and advanced functions in a wide range of applications, including motors, home appliances, and industrial equipment.

In the new product, 1MB[1] of code flash memory can be achieved using two separate regions of 512KB. This implementation allows instructions to be read from one area while concurrently programming updated code to another area. Finally, the firmware replacement function is realized through the area exchange function [3].
