Diodes Corporation launches high-current, high-precision LDO for noise-sensitive power conversion product applications

 


【Lansheng Technology News】Diodes Corporation recently launched a rated 3A low dropout (LDO) voltage regulator that supports 4.4µVRMS operation (0.8V output voltage). The AP7179D provides a clean power supply optimized for driving noise-sensitive components such as high-performance SerDes, RF components, and data converters required in high-speed communications, test and measurement, medical, and video product applications. Hardware types such as remote radio units, outdoor backhaul units, mMIMO active antenna systems, ultrasonic scanners, radar systems and laboratory/field instruments can all use this product.


Diodes' AP7179D has ±1% output accuracy across line, load and temperature. The device's (maximum) 180mV dropout voltage at 3A load current supports a wide voltage conversion range. Its low-noise reference and error amplifier achieve the smallest noise floor. In addition, its 40dB power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) at 500kHz significantly reduces the coupling of input supply noise to the output.


This LDO has two output voltage selection modes: pin programmable mode from 0.8V to 3.95V, or adjustable mode from 0.8V to 5.5V using an external resistor divider. The resulting flexibility significantly reduces the number of auxiliary components required.


The device's low output noise mitigates phase noise and clock jitter generated by the power supply. This advantage and high current capability make this product compatible with high-performance processors such as FPGAs, ASICs, and DSPs.
