NXP accelerates JCOP ID 2 secure eID solution

 


【Lansheng Technology News】September 8, 2023 - NXP Semiconductors announced the launch of JCOP® ID 2 secure eID solution, which is designed to improve the security of personal identification documents, while also complying with recently released government requirements and supporting future development changes. JCOP ID 2 comes with a full range of advanced features designed to help governments ensure the security of personal ID documents throughout their validity period.


Personal identity documents are the basis for "interaction" between individual citizens and the government, and are the "gateway" for citizens to obtain government services or benefits. Relevant documents must remain secure and current for the period of validity for which they were issued. JCOP ID 2 supports the use of security mechanisms to maintain documents in use. This mechanism allows governments to deploy security updates and regularly assess whether Common Criteria certification remains compliant without losing personal details of users.


New security features of the JCOP ID 2 secure eID solution include in-card user authentication (face and fingerprint) certified by Common Criteria EAL 6+. It ensures the security of the document during its validity period, ensuring that there is no need to replace the document before its expiration date.

JCOP ID 2 works with low-profile packaging and inductive coupling technology to help increase flexibility and reduce the occurrence of cracks, thereby avoiding the need to replace the document before expiration. Large-capacity memory up to 450KB can be used to store applets and user data. JCOP ID 2 combines ultra-low power consumption with fast processing of transaction information. In addition, SecureBox is provided to support independent customer development, management and asset loading to speed up product launch, and integrates custom encryption algorithms and native accelerators for non-standard protocols. JCOP ID 2 complies with the EU 2019/1157 safety regulations.
