Samsung has abandoned Exynos 2300 and developed Exynos 2400 instead

【Lansheng Technology Information】Samsung has abandoned the Exynos 2300 and started developing the Exynos 2400, which is scheduled to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2023. It is said that Exynos 2300 is code-named "Quadra". Samsung decided to cancel the project before the official mass production. Its design performance is equivalent to that of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

According to an article published by Revegnus, the decision to cancel the Exynos 2300 was made before the SoC entered mass production. Although the reason for the cancellation was not mentioned, it is certain that the chip will have an impact on the Snapdragon 8th generation 2. With Samsung's 4nm process robust and yields ramping up, the company can focus on ramping up Exynos 2400 yields accordingly.

Someone compared the Exynos 2300 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 dual-core processor introduced a few years ago. It is claimed that the Exynos 2300 will beat the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in multi-core runs, although it is possible that it will underperform in the GPU tests. Google's Tensor G3 is said to be an improved version of the Exynos 2300, using the same CPU cluster as the unannounced SoC. However, according to suspected information leaked by Geekbench 5, the performance of Tensor G3 is worse than that of the previous generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

In addition, some netizens said that Samsung may have canceled the mass production plan of Exynos 2300 and Exynos 2400 chipsets, and the goal is to cooperate with Google to launch Exynos 2500 equipped with NPU by Google.

Citing information from reliable source OreXda in the report, Samsung has basically confirmed that it has canceled mass production of the Exynos 2300 chipset and subsequent development of prototypes, and the Exynos 2400 may suffer the same fate.

Samsung will focus on cooperating with Google and AMD to build the Exynos 2500 chipset. The whistleblower also suggested that the Exynos 2500 was developed around performance, equipped with a 10-core CPU and twice redesigned Xclipse GPU, and equipped with an NPU developed in cooperation with Google.
