Silicon Labs supports new Bluetooth mesh enhancements and standardized profiles for networked lighting control
【Lansheng Technology News】Silicon Labs, a global leader committed to building a more connected world with secure and intelligent wireless connection technology, recently announced its support for the new feature enhancements implemented by the Bluetooth SIG for Bluetooth mesh networks, as well as their new network Lighting control standard that aims to provide a unified standard for commercial and industrial lighting using Bluetooth mesh networks.
"Silicon Labs' Bluetooth products will support the new feature enhancements and profiles recently released by the Bluetooth SIG, and we look forward to applying the optimization, cost savings and security enhancements achieved in the new version for our customers." Silicon Technology Industrial and Commercial said Ross Sabolcik, senior vice president of business units. "Since the launch of Bluetooth mesh networking in 2017, Silicon Labs' products have supported the standard, and we have helped countless customers adopt this standard in application scenarios such as building automation, predictive maintenance and commercial lighting."
New Features in Silicon Labs Bluetooth System-on-Chip and Modules
Silicon Labs' Bluetooth products support these new Bluetooth mesh enhancements:
● Device firmware updates: Mesh network deployments often have hundreds of nodes, which rely on their own firmware to keep running at optimal conditions, protect against threats, and take advantage of the network’s latest features. The device firmware update feature greatly simplifies the firmware update process as it now allows operators to update just one device, which then pushes the update to the rest of the network.
● Remote configuration: With the initial version of the Bluetooth mesh standard, network operators had to configure each device individually, which was a costly, time-consuming and sometimes dangerous task depending on the environment. With remote configuration capabilities, the network itself can help configure the device without having to have an operator within direct coverage of the new device.
● Credential-based configuration: In order to better prevent fake devices from penetrating into the network, unique credentials can be injected into the device during the development process to help network operators verify new devices in the network.
● Private beacon: The private beacon function will use encryption technology to eliminate static information in beacons shared outside the network, thereby improving network security. This means devices on the network and their users can no longer be tracked by malicious actors.
