ON Semiconductor launches low-power Hyperlux LP image sensor: battery life increased by 40%
【Lansheng Technology News】ON Semiconductor recently launched a low-power image sensor series called Hyperlux LP for applications such as smart doorbells, security cameras, AR/VR headsets, machine vision, and video conferencing in home and office scenarios.
The Hyperlux LP low-power image sensor has a pixel size of 1.4 µm and is available in three specifications: 5 million, 8.3 million and 20 million pixels. After turning on low-power mode, battery life can be increased by up to 40%.
ON Semiconductor said that Hyperlux LP uses innovative silicon design and pixel architecture to provide "industry-leading image quality" and "clear, vivid images even in low-light lighting conditions, whether in visible light or near-infrared light."
Hyperlux LP mainly has built-in "Wake on Motion" algorithm, which can dynamically switch sensor modes. It operates with low power consumption in normal mode to reduce power consumption. After detecting moving objects, it automatically switches to a high-performance state.
The other is "intelligent ROI", which can implement regions of interest under constrained bandwidth networks, providing a contextual view of the scene, as well as individual ROIs at full resolution.
These capabilities, coupled with on-chip subsampling options such as pixel binning, can offload some of the workload from the image signal processor by preprocessing data, further saving power and improving system performance. Low power consumption also reduces heat generation and eliminates the need for a heat sink.
