Infineon launches TRAVEO T2G-C series graphics MCU, providing MPU-like performance for automotive graphics applications at the cost of an MCU

【Lansheng Technology News】Infineon Technologies AG recently launched its new TRAVEO™ T2G-C series automotive microcontrollers (MCUs) equipped with a new graphics engine. The engine uses new intelligent rendering technology to deliver outstanding performance for automotive graphics applications. This new MCU has a small footprint, simplifies OEM integration and reduces BOM (bill of materials) costs. It is suitable for advanced smart mobile instrument clusters and head-up display systems for automobiles, motorcycles, off-highway mobility vehicles, and systems that focus on quality and Safe industrial and medical applications.

This Infineon device is paired with the processor in the smart cockpit to achieve extremely fast startup times. The MCU's built-in graphics engine reduces the memory required for graphics processing by 3 to 5 times, thereby reducing power consumption and cost. Equipped with an optimized 2.5D graphics engine, the MCU can support fully virtual dashboards with resolutions up to 1920 x 1080. In addition, engineering samples of the new T2G-C series MCU have been launched. It has an LPDDR4 interface that can display complex 3D scenes, giving designers greater freedom in designing modern human-machine interfaces (HMI).

RAVEO T2G-C series microcontrollers are equipped with two Arm Cortex-M7 cores with frequencies up to 320 MHz and have best-in-class ASIL-B/SIL-2 safety performance. Featuring up to 6MB of flash memory and 4MB of internal graphics memory or 1GB of LPPDR4 graphics memory, the series of MCUs feature the EVITA Advanced Hardware Security Module (HSM), which provides advanced security via hardware cryptographic accelerators and enhanced hardware protection via a dedicated ARM Cortex-M0+ . As a result, this cost-effective MCU takes into account the latest functional safety and information security requirements and offers a wide range of packaging options from 500-pin BGA (via 216-pin TEQFP) to 144-pin LQFP. CAN-FD, LIN, Gigabit Ethernet and CXPI are available as embedded peripherals. A JPEG decoder, video input and output and two serial memory interfaces (SPI or xSPI) complete the product portfolio.

Infineon offers its customers a reliable network of partners that support key hardware functions of microcontrollers through their HMI tools. Combined with certified HMI tools, the TRAVEO T2G graphics controller helps developers achieve optimal application performance.
