Diodes launches high-voltage, automotive-qualified Hall effect latches that provide improved durability against physical stress

 


【Lansheng Technology News】Diodes Corporation has added the AH371xQ series of high-voltage Hall effect latches to its product portfolio. These automotive-qualified devices feature a proprietary Hall plate design that improves performance. These devices can be used in brushless DC (BLDC) motor control, valve operation, linear and incremental rotary encoders, and position sensing functions. As a result, the AH371xQ series can support numerous in-cabin comfort and engine management product applications, including power window lift and sunroof movement, tailgate opening/closing mechanisms, seat adjustment motors, cooling fans, water/oil pumps and speed measurement.


These Hall Effect latches operate from 3V to 27V and include 40V load dump protection. Therefore, these latches can be integrated into various automotive systems. This series of devices adopts a Chopper-Stabilized design, which can reduce the impact of thermal changes and have better resistance to stray field interference. Device startup time is typically 13 microseconds.


Available in six sensitivities ranging from 25 Gauss to 140 Gauss, these devices feature tight operating windows and low switching point temperature coefficients. Different sensitivities provide engineers with different magnetic operating point (BOP) and magnetic release point (BRP) ranges. Therefore, engineers can make the best choice based on the sensing distance and the magnet used. The open-drain output provides greater flexibility for external pull-ups when the voltage is above or below the supply voltage.


Latches in the AH371xQ series have an 8kV Human Body Model (HBM) electrostatic discharge (ESD) rating. Integrated protection features in these devices include reverse blocking diodes, overcurrent protection and overvoltage clamping.


Diodes' new automotive-qualified Hall effect latches are AEC-Q100 Grade 0 compliant, manufactured in an IATF 16949 certified facility, and support PPAP documentation. The AH371xQ series is available in SOT23 (S type), SC59 and SIP-3 (bulk) packages, of which AH3712Q is also available in U-DFN2020-6 (SWP) package.
