Honeywell and ADI join hands to promote innovation and change in building automation
【Lansheng Technology News】January 10, 2024 – Honeywell and Analog Devices, Inc. announced the signing of a memorandum of cooperation during the 2024 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to explore ways to upgrade digital connectivity technology without replacing existing wiring. Innovative changes in the digitization of commercial buildings to help reduce costs, avoid waste and reduce downtime. This strategic collaboration brings digital connectivity technology to building management systems for the first time.
Many commercial buildings in the United States are outdated and inefficient, with most built before 2000, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). In addition, as enterprises rely on network technology to transmit data and the amount of data transmitted is increasing, this has led to a surge in demand for cloud storage and processing speed. Digitization of building management systems will enable managers to make real-time decisions to reduce energy consumption and upgrade building network performance and security to current Internet Protocol networks without the high cost of large-scale retrofits.
Honeywell plans to use ADI's T1L single-pair Ethernet and software configurable input/output (SWIO) solution in its building management system. ADI's single-pair Ethernet supports long-distance Ethernet connections and can reuse a building's existing wiring, reducing installation time and cost and eliminating waste. At the same time, single-pair Ethernet can effectively complement existing Ethernet connections in building management systems, enhancing connectivity from the edge to the cloud, helping to eliminate data silos and better utilize assets.
ADI's solution also enables Honeywell to create a single version of the product for different needs, reducing product complexity and enabling a more future-oriented control and automation solution to accommodate possible future building renovations or changes in needs. This helps speed product installation, reduces inventory requirements, and makes replacement adjustments more economical and convenient.
