In 2023, there will be a big storm in the global technology industry
At the beginning of this year, the #semiconductor giant connected down. Intel took the lead. According to #Intel's financial report, the company's revenue in 2022 will be US$63.1 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 20%; net profit will be US$8 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 60%. Among them, the fourth quarter lost $ 661 million.
Immediately afterwards, starting from the fourth quarter of 2022, Samsung's operating profit fell by 69% year-on-year, from 13.86 trillion won to 4.3 trillion won, the lowest point in eight years. The #semiconductor business that #Samsung relies on has suffered a severe setback, and the operating profit of the chip business group (DS) has plummeted by 97%, from 8.83 trillion won to 270 billion won.
#Samsung has always been the overlord of global semiconductors, and has shaped an era of "US and South Korea dominance" with giants such as #Intel in the past. Among the top ten semiconductor companies in the world, Samsung has ranked first for many years.
The well-known consulting firm Gartner disclosed that the top ten semiconductor companies by global revenue in 2022 are Samsung, Intel, SK Hynix, Qualcomm, Micron, Broadcom, #AMD, Texas Instruments, #MediaTek, and #Apple. Apple's semiconductor business is also top-notch in the world, but it is basically "crushed" compared to Samsung, which has won more than 12% of the global market share.
The reason why Samsung ranks first is that they have two cores: first, the world's top semiconductor technology, with advanced technology chips such as 5nm and 4nm; second, chips cover a wide range of mobile phones, storage, base stations, automobiles, etc. field.
Among the many directions, mobile phone chips are the highlight of Samsung. They already produce mobile phones and have unique advantages. According to the annual report released by the previous research organization, Samsung mobile phones will have a total global sales volume of 260 million units in 2022, ranking first.
Samsung is the first to sell chips and mobile phones, but its performance has plummeted, which has caused a global shock. Even so, at the end of last year, many European and American analysts were still optimistic about Samsung, believing that "the epidemic has affected the rhythm, and Samsung will turn the tide in 2023."
