According to reports, South Korea's Hyundai Motor's IONIQ 5 model may face a period of suspension of production because the world's largest automotive semiconductor company, Germany's Infineon, which supplies power module chips (IGBTs) to it, has recently produced a large number of substandard products.

According to reports, Infineon found defects in IGBT chips produced from early April to early June this year. The company abandoned all automotive chips produced during this period, and these chips were originally planned to be shipped to Hyundai in the middle of this month.

Specifically, the problems with the product arose during the process of injecting aluminum ions into the battery instead of nitrogen ions. Aluminum ions have replaced nitrogen in the latest manufacturing process to power rechargeable batteries.

It is reported that the specific situation of the above-mentioned problematic chip refers to: Infineon has produced a large number of defective products in the process of improving the existing nitrogen ion implantation process and switching to the latest aluminum ion process.
